Our second graders are becoming school experts; after surviving kindergarten and first grade, they know the school rules. We reviewed the rules this year, having the students make posters in a group. These hung in the hallway to remind other students of our school rules. We discussed monster manners; created a class poster, where each student read a rule aloud, added it to the poster; and all the students signed the poster, promising to follow our school rules. The students also wrote a letter to our dear friend, David (from David Shannon's No David), teaching him how he should behave in school.
We reinforce students' behavior everyday with a clip chart. When students make a good choice, their clip moves up; if a student makes a poor choice, their clip moves down. At the end of the day, students earn points depending on where they ended their day on Class Dojo. Then, students can earn a prize when they reach 25, 50, 75 or 100 points!

Warm Fuzzies
Warm fuzzies are cards that students can give to one another. When someone makes a particular student feel warm and fuzzy inside because of kind behavior, that student can write out a warm fuzzy card to recognize his/her peer. These fuzzies are posted in the classroom to acknowledge all of the kind actions of our students. MACE is very proud of all of our students earning warm fuzzies!
